Walks and Hiking in Balquhidder
The glen surrounding Monachyle Mhor offers some of the most beautiful walking in Scotland.
The famous Rob Roy Way passes nearby, offering spectacular scenery through hills, forests and lochs. A short drive away you can also visit the resting place of the legendary Highland outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor.
For more adventurous walkers, there are five Munros within easy reach of the hotel, offering rewarding climbs and breathtaking Highland views. Our team will happily help recommend routes to suit your plans.

Whisky and Distillery Tours
No visit to Scotland is complete without discovering its whisky heritage and we’re fortunate to have one of the country’s most characterful distilleries just a short drive away. Deanston Distillery sits on the banks of the River Teith and offers fascinating guided tours where visitors can learn about the distilling process, explore the historic cotton mill buildings and sample their award-winning Highland single malts.
At Monachyle Mhor Hotel, we have a close relationship with Deanston and proudly feature their whiskies throughout the hotel, from the bar to our curated drinks menus. Their rich, honeyed Highland style pairs beautifully with the seasonal food served in our restaurant.
